Tomorrow, 1st of September, will be carried out the journey “The UNO and the Contemporary International Questions: Brazil in the Security Council of the United Nations”.
The event happens in the Noble Hall of the National Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ (Moncorvo Filho Street, 8) and it will debate the role of Brazil in the Security Council and the role of the Council in the international peace and security.
The opening will count with the presence the President of the UFRJ, Aloísio Teixeira; the Chief of the Department of International Organisms of the Ministry of Foreign Relations (MRE), Minister Carlos Duarte; the Director of the National Faculty of Law of the UFRJ, Flávio Martins; the Director of the UNIC Rio, Giancarlo Summa; and the Director of the Centre of International Law (CEDIN), Jean-Marc Thouvenin.
During the afternoon, there will be presentation of academic works, videos and posters by the participants of the project “University for the Peace”.
Ending the Journey, will be carried the inauguration of the site, in Portuguese, about the Security Council (www.brasil-cs-onu.com), with updated information about the mission and functioning of it, with emphasis on the acting of Brazil in the organ.
The event is a partnership of the Federal University of the Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) with the Organization of the United Nations (UNO), through the National Faculty of Law (FND) of the UFRJ and the Centre of Information of the United Nations in Brazil (UNIC Rio).
The entry is free and it isn´t necessary to register previously.
