Haiti: The United States and France ask patience

This Monday, September 20, was carried out in New York the Special Meeting of the Interim Commission for the Reconstruction of Haiti, which disposed of the presence of several chancellors, including Celso Amorim, of Brazil.

Representatives of the United States and France asked the Haitians to have more patience before the slowness in the actions of reconstruction of the country.

The earthquake that hit Port au Prince in January killed more than 300 thousand people.

According to the Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, “those who wait for immediate progresses are unrealistic”.

For Clinton, the Haitians need that the good intentions are translated into concrete progresses.

In her evaluation, those who are surprised with the amount of money that is donated and the slowness of the actions have no notion of the disaster.

The United States assumed the commitment of donating to Haiti around US$ 1.1 billion. France, US$ 410 millions.
