The Organization of the American States (OAS) carried out, last Wednesday, October 6, extraordinary session where the Secretary-general of the entity, José Miguel Insulza, presented a report about the crisis in Ecuador.
Last Friday, Insulza met, in Quito, with President Rafael Correa, to whom he assured the unrestricted support of the OAS to the institutionalism of Ecuador.
Unlike what happened last year with Honduras, the OAS reacted immediately to the possibility of a coup d´etat in Ecuador and, on September 30, joined its Permanent Council to demand the respect to the Rechtsstaat in the country.
The Mercosur and the UNASUR did the same thing, besides the governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Chile and Venezuela.
According to the Ecuadorian opposition, Correa is the responsible by the radicalization of the movement of policemen and soldiers of the Armed Forces, discontented with a reform that intends to put an end to several benefits.
